I’m basically an aging nerd. I’m now retired, but I spent most of my career doing computer networking, mostly at Bolt Beranek & Newman, and Cisco, with a few sidetracks into other areas. I’m now doing whatever interests me:
- Music & supporting the local (Boston/New England) music scene in various ways, including running the “Ellen Schmidt’s Open Mike” in Boxborough MA, and running sound at the PCA Open Mike in Westford MA. Also running sound at various venues, including the PCA Coffeehouse, the Friends of the Arts series in Harvard MA, and occasionally others.
- For the past few years, I’ve been running the live-stream crew for the Main Stage at the annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (YouTube)
- Writing tools to support camera control and video streaming for streaming/recording setups using OBS and NDI cameras.
- Hacking code and bits of hardware for my own purposes (Unix/Linux/MacOS/RPi/Arduino/Micropython/ESP32/…)
- Being a “gentleman farmer” (gardening, pet poultry and goats)
